Origin
Unveiled in 2018 as a prototype carbon concept, the Prowler entered production in aluminium as KTM's most capable non-electric trail/enduro bike. With 150 mm of Horst-link rear travel and a 67° head angle it's aimed squarely at riders who want to go fast downhill without the weight penalty of full enduro. The Prowler 1964 name references the year KTM Fahrrad was founded, a common naming device in the range.

The verdict
+Strengths
- 150 mm Horst-link rear suspension gives genuine trail and light enduro capability
- Modern 67° head angle provides confident handling on technical descents
- Mullet wheel option delivers fast-steering agility while keeping rear traction
−Weaknesses
- At ~17.2 kg it's on the heavier side even for aluminium all-mountain bikes
- Aluminium frame cannot match the compliance and weight of carbon rivals at similar travel
- Production model never reached the carbon frame shown in the original prototype
