Ultra
Origin
Dualtron is the flagship line of Minimotors, a South Korean manufacturer (Minimotors Co., Ltd., founded in Seoul) that helped define the modern high-performance e-scooter category. The Dualtron family — 'dual' for its signature twin-motor drivetrain — earned a cult following among enthusiasts for building genuinely fast, long-range machines out of aviation-grade aluminium at a time when most scooters were flimsy last-mile toys. The Ultra arrived in 2017 as a purpose-built off-road monster: where the earlier Dualtron III leaned commuter, the Ultra bolted on beefier 2700W-class motors, a larger 2072Wh LG pack, and huge 11-inch knobby tyres, making it one of the first mainstream scooters you could genuinely take off the tarmac. It became the reference point for 'off-road beast' e-scooters, and Minimotors kept the name alive across a 72V Ultra II (2021) and a 40Ah Ultra 2 UP (2024).
Specifications
- Weight
- kg
- Brakes
- Dual hydraulic disc (140mm) with recuperative electric braking; no ABS on original
The verdict
- Genuine off-road capability — wide 11in knobby tyres plus torsion suspension eat bumps and loose surfaces
- Strong dual-motor acceleration and ~80 km/h top speed with a big 2072Wh LG battery for long range
- Aviation-grade aluminium build is famously durable, yet lighter than many comparable Dualtrons
- No kickplate and reported stem/handlebar wobble when folded/locked — control suffers at speed
- Braking and lighting feel underwhelming for the price; original Ultra has no ABS
- Very long ~20h charge on the stock charger (fast charger is a paid extra) and heavy to carry up stairs
Generations
Ultra (2017)
- The lighter, 60V original off-road icon. Fixed torsion suspension, no ABS.
Ultra II / Ultra 2 (2021)
- Jumped to 72V for the bigger motors; added electronic ABS, 5-stage adjustable rear suspension, rear-mounted controllers, foldable bars.
Ultra 2 UP / Upgrade (2024)
- Biggest battery and upgraded 72V/40A controller; heaviest of the three. The current-production trim.
