Caledonia-5
road
01
Origin
The Caledonia-5 arrived in 2021 as an evolved variant of the original Caledonia, Cervelo's aero-endurance all-rounder launched the same year. While the base Caledonia already impressed with its 35 mm tyre clearance and year-round mudguard mounts, the Caledonia-5 pushed further: a D-shaped steerer tube on the fork enabled full cable integration from lever to caliper, and the frame shed 95 g versus the standard model (936 g vs 1,031 g). Despite the aero intention, the designers preserved the longer wheelbase and relaxed angles that make this a genuinely comfortable sportive tool.

The verdict
+Strengths
- Frame weight of 936 g is excellent for a disc endurance bike with full integration and mudguard mounts
- Ride quality is genuinely comfortable — 30 mm tyres and compliant rear triangle absorb road texture effectively
- 34 mm clearance plus full mudguard mounts makes it a rare all-season aero machine
−Weaknesses
- Integrated AB09 cockpit is fiddly to set up and limits bar/stem swap options if fit needs significant adjustment
- At 7.95 kg complete, it is not a climbers' weapon — the R5 or Caledonia frame alone is lighter
- Reserve 40/44 wheels are excellent but push the build price into flagship territory
