Origin
The iLynx is BH's most distinctive e-MTB: instead of licensing a Bosch, Shimano or Brose system, they developed the BHZ motor in-house with SEG Automotive — and built it in Spain. At 2.1 kg it is the lightest mid-drive motor available on any production e-MTB, allowing the iLynx to achieve a full-suspension trail bike weight that makes it feel close to an analogue ride. The optional XPro DD range extender addresses the smaller 630 Wh base battery, adding 180 Wh externally for riders who want maximum range.

The verdict
+Strengths
- BHZ motor at 2.1 kg is the lightest mid-drive motor on any production trail e-MTB
- Proprietary motor means full Spanish design control — instant warranty and software support from BH directly
- Extendable battery (630+180 Wh) future-proofs range without changing the frame
−Weaknesses
- BHZ motor is less proven in service networks outside Spain and Iberia than Bosch or Shimano
- 65 Nm torque is lower than Bosch (85 Nm) or Brose (90 Nm) — less brute force on very steep climbs
- iCONNECT Z app ecosystem is smaller and less mature than Bosch eBike Flow
