Происхождение

Merida introduced the Silex in 2018 as a dedicated gravel platform, and the 2024 generation represented the most significant rethink of the model. Merida addressed two recurring criticisms: the old bike's tall, upright head tube and conservative geometry. The 2024 Silex emerged slacker, longer, lower, and ready for a gravel suspension fork — reflecting how much gravel riding has shifted towards rough terrain. The proof arrived quickly: a Silex rider won Gravel Worlds 2024 outright.

Вердикт

+Достоинства
  • 2024 geometry overhaul produces a genuinely capable off-road gravel bike without sacrificing fast road performance
  • Suspension-fork compatibility and dropper-post routing future-proof the platform for adventure riding
  • Silex CF carbon + fork at ~1760 g combined is competitive with premium-brand gravel frames
Недостатки
  • Wire Port routing, while clean, makes headset and cable maintenance more involved than externally routed alternatives
  • 45 mm tyre clearance is adequate but not class-leading for riders wanting very large volume tyres
  • Lower stack position in 2024 suits performance riders but may be too aggressive for casual gravel tourists
