Verdiktas

+Stiprybės
  • Versatile terrain capability — pavement, gravel, dirt, fire roads
  • 29er wheels roll over rough terrain better than 700c touring wheels
  • Massive carrying capacity with front and rear racks included
  • Hydraulic disc brakes (2018+) excellent for loaded descents
  • Thru-axles provide stiffer, more precise wheel mounting than QR
  • Lighter than steel touring bikes (12.89 kg vs 14+ kg for 520)
  • Excellent value for a complete adventure touring package (racks included)
Trūkumai
  • Geometry feels long and slack — some riders find it uninspiring for casual riding
  • Aluminum frame less comfortable than steel on very long multi-day rides
  • No longer available as complete bike — frameset only since 2022
  • Front derailleur compatibility issues when upgrading components (esp. Shimano Tiagra)
  • 28-hole spoke count on some rims — lower than ideal for heavy touring loads
  • SRAM drivetrain parts harder to find globally than Shimano for world touring

Pirkėjo pastabos

01
The Trek 920 is NO LONGER sold as a complete bike. Only the frameset (€1,249) is available. You'll need to source and build all components yourself or pay a shop to build it.
02
For a custom 920 build, consider Shimano GRX groupset instead of SRAM — GRX parts are more widely available globally for touring, and the frame accepts Shimano components (with possible FD adapter).
03
Used 2018-2021 complete 920s are the sweet spot — they have the improved S-700 integrated shifters and hydraulic brakes. Pre-2018 bar-end shifter models are less desirable.
04
The 920's expedition geometry makes it feel sluggish unloaded. Test ride with some weight if possible — it transforms with 15+ kg of cargo.
05
Weight limit is 136 kg (bike + rider + cargo). At ~13 kg bike weight, this leaves 123 kg for rider + gear. More generous than the 520's 125 kg limit.
06
Consider Salsa Fargo or Kona Sutra ULTD if you want a similar drop-bar 29er adventure bike as a complete ready-to-ride option. These are the 920's closest competitors still sold as complete bikes.
