Kross launched the Level Boost in 2019 as the electric version of its successful Level XC hardtail, leveraging the same aluminium superlite frame platform but integrating a Shimano Steps mid-drive. The name "Boost" references both the motor assistance and the wider 148mm Boost rear axle spacing adopted for the extra stiffness demanded by the added motor torque. It positioned Kross in the entry-to-mid e-MTB market at a time when Shimano Steps was establishing itself as the volume-e-MTB motor standard.
