Origin

The Zero line is the in-house performance brand of Falcon PEV, a Singapore-based personal electric vehicle company founded in 2013 that helped popularise (and claims to have coined) the term 'PEV'. Falcon PEV designs and distributes the Zero scooters and remains their primary source of parts and support. The Zero 10 arrived around 2019 as the single-motor entry into the 10-inch class, sitting below the flagship dual-motor Zero 10X. It was Falcon's answer to riders who wanted the comfort of big 10-inch pneumatic tyres and full suspension without paying for a second motor. As dual-motor scooters became the class norm and cheaper mid-range rivals crowded in, the single-motor 10 lost its niche and was quietly discontinued, with the 10X carrying the 'Zero 10' name forward in the market.

The verdict

+Strengths
  • 10-inch pneumatic tyres plus front and dual-rear suspension give a genuinely smooth, planted ride
  • Large 936Wh battery delivers useful real-world range for a single-motor scooter
  • Solid build quality, dual disc brakes and a height-adjustable telescopic stem
Weaknesses
  • Single motor makes acceleration and hill-climbing feel flat next to dual-motor rivals (and its own 10X)
  • Heavy (~24 kg) and bulky - awkward to carry or take on public transport despite folding
  • No water-resistance rating, weak headlight, and no horn/turn signals; uses cheaper cells than premium peers

Generations

  1. Zero 10 (single motor)

    • The subject of this node - comfort-focused single-motor commuter, discontinued ~2022.
  2. Zero 10X (dual motor)

    • Faster, longer-range dual-motor sibling that outlived and replaced the single-motor 10. Different scooter - do not conflate.
