Electric Scooter 4 Lite
Origin
The Lite is Xiaomi's budget offering for the 4 series. Unlike the 'Essential' of the past, they didn't limit the motor power—it still peaks at 600W. Instead, they cut costs by using a smaller battery, a cheaper drum brake on the rear, and (initially) smaller 8.5-inch tires. Gen 1 (2023-2023): Budget model utilizing the older 8.5-inch tire format, rear drum brake, and a smaller battery. Gen 2 (2024-present): Gen 2 increased battery size, added 10-inch tires, and changed the frame design completely (looks more like Segway).

The verdict
- Affordable entry-level price (~€399-449) with Xiaomi build quality and Mi Home app integration
- Maintenance-friendly rear drum brake — sealed from rain and dirt, no pad adjustments
- 8.5" pneumatic tires soak up small bumps far better than solid tires on a no-suspension scooter
- Turn-signal indicators and front/rear LED lights — uncommon at this budget tier
- Quick one-step folding plus IP54 splash resistance for everyday urban commuting
- No suspension — rough surfaces and cobbles feel harsh, only the tires cushion
- Drum brake lacks sharp stopping bite at higher speed vs disc brakes
- Small 187 Wh battery limits real range to ~20 km (Gen 1)
- At 15.6 kg it is heavier than the older M365/1S/Essential despite the 'Lite' name
- Capped at 25 km/h with weak ~14% hill climbing — struggles on steeper inclines
