Leger
Origin
Minimotors is the South Korean manufacturer behind the Speedway and Dualtron families — names that effectively defined the enthusiast electric-scooter segment in the late 2010s. The Speedway line built its reputation on the muscular, dual-motor Speedway 4 and 5, which became benchmark 'fast commuter' machines. But those scooters were heavy (25-30 kg+) and awkward to carry up stairs or onto a tram. The Speedway Leger, introduced around 2018, was Minimotors' answer to that gap: 'leger' is French for 'light', and the whole design brief was to keep the trusted Speedway ride quality — pneumatic tyres, real dual suspension, a solid folding stem — while dropping the weight to around 20 kg. It slotted in as the portable, single-motor 'daily driver' of the range, and it stayed in the catalogue for years, spawning the budget 36V Eco and the upgraded 52V Pro that added range and hill power without losing the light footprint.

The verdict
- Genuinely portable at ~20 kg while keeping full dual suspension and pneumatic tyres — rare comfort at this weight.
- Reliable, well-supported Minimotors platform with wide spare-parts and battery availability across Europe.
- Strong value all-rounder: real 40-50 km range and ~45 km/h from a compact, foldable frame.
- Weak water protection — no dependable IP certification; needs manual sealing and should be kept out of rain.
- Rear-only drum braking is adequate but soft; no front hydraulic, so hard stops need anticipation.
- Folding stem/latch can develop play over time — a known wear point that must be checked on used units.
Generations
Leger Eco (36V era)
- Cheapest, lightest, shortest range — city hops only. Regen on rear drum.
Leger standard (48V, 2018 original)
- The classic and best-known trim: the balanced everyday commuter.
Leger Pro (52V, 2022 revision)
- More voltage = more speed, range and hill grade (~27 deg), plus a redesigned, sturdier folding mechanism and newer LCD.
