Origin
The Firebird is Pivot's EWS-proven enduro race platform. It debuted in 2016 and has been refined through multiple generations, each time borrowing knowledge from Pivot's Phoenix downhill bike. The longer DW-link configuration — shared with the Phoenix — maximises rearward wheel-path to erase square-edge hits at speed. Available in full-29er or MX (mixed-wheel) configurations, the Firebird caters to riders who want a fast-rolling big wheel out front and a snappier 27.5" behind.

The verdict
+Strengths
- Phoenix DH-derived suspension delivers exceptional square-edge traction
- MX/full-29er flexibility via flip chip without compromising geometry
- Race-proven at EWS level; size-specific chainstays suit diverse body types
−Weaknesses
- 165 mm travel is deep — overkill for moderate trail riding
- Premium carbon pricing; coil builds require a separate shock purchase
- Large frame counts make it a commitment for non-dedicated enduro riders
