Origin

Norco introduced the Indie as a modern city bike that uses mountain bike geometry principles (27.5" wheels, dropper-compatible alloy frame) adapted for urban environments. The result is a bike that handles the unexpected better than traditional 700c hybrids while remaining efficient on pavement.

The verdict

+Strengths
  • 27.5" wheels handle urban obstacles and rough pavement better than narrow 700c tyres
  • Comprehensive accessory mounts make it a genuine working commuter out of the box
  • Hydraulic disc brakes on higher builds give confident all-weather stopping power
Weaknesses
  • 27.5" wheel standard limits component compatibility compared to 700c city bikes
  • Heavier than a lightweight road-oriented commuter at the same price
  • Not suited for fast road cycling or long-distance sport riding
