Origin
The Scultura has been Merida's lightweight road race platform since around 2006, evolving through five generations. The pivotal Gen5 (Scultura V, 2022) was the biggest overhaul: Merida borrowed aero tube shaping from the Reacto, adopted Wire Port internal cable routing through the headset, unified geometry across both models, and introduced Nano Matrix technology — adding nano-scale particles to the carbon resin to improve impact resistance by 40%. The result is a bike that climbs like a pure lightweight yet cuts through air with purpose.

Specifications
- Frame
- CF5 ultra-high-modulus carbon (861 g size M, Nano Matrix technology for +40% impact resistance) on top trims; CF3 carbon (997 g size M) on mid trims; LITE BSA aluminium on entry. All versions share Reacto-derived geometry. 30 mm tyre clearance. Internal cable routing via Wire Port headset system.
- Weight
- kg
- Drivetrain
- Shimano 105 mechanical (entry) through Shimano Ultegra Di2 12-speed and SRAM Force AXS 12-speed (higher trims). Quarq power meter on select builds.
- Brakes
- Hydraulic disc, flat mount. Shimano 105 / Ultegra on most builds.
- Wheels
- Reynolds Aero 46 DB on top builds; Merida alloy wheelsets on mid trims. Tubeless-compatible rims across the range.

The verdict
+Strengths
- Exceptional carbon quality for the price — Merida's manufacturing scale delivers CF5 frames that rival bikes costing significantly more
- Light and reactive on climbs; the 73.5° geometry puts power down efficiently and feels neutral in corners
- Versatile range: entry alloy to 6.7 kg carbon race weapon, all sharing the same proven geometry
−Weaknesses
- Wire Port internal routing looks clean but makes headset bearing replacement more involved
- Less aggressive aero profiling than a dedicated aero bike like the Reacto — the tradeoff is weight, not speed
- Brand recognition outside Europe lags behind Trek and Specialized despite comparable (or superior) engineering
