Two15 (DH)

mtb
01

Origin

The Two15 name is a straight statement of intent: roughly 215mm of rear-wheel travel, a full-blown downhill race chassis. Cube's DH lineage runs back to the early 2010s alloy '215'/'Two 15' bikes, which used the brand's FSP4 linkage and 27.5" wheels and served as an affordable, honest race platform for a decade. The bike as most people know it today arrived in October 2020 for the 2021 season, when Cube tore the platform up and rebuilt it around a new 4-link 'ETC' Horst-style kinematic, an adjustable Angle Set headset, and — for the first time — a lightweight carbon 29er (HPC) alongside the agile alloy 27.5. The timing was deliberate: Cube launched Cube Factory Racing for 2021, signing two-time UCI World Champion Danny Hart alongside German champion Max Hartenstern, and the new Two15 became their World Cup weapon. Hartenstern was central to its development and both riders put the HPC into World Cup top-tens, which is the whole point of a bike like this.

The verdict

+Strengths
  • Genuine World-Cup-proven downhill performance — calm, composed and fast on steep, rough tracks
  • Exceptional value: carbon builds and top components at prices well below most rival DH bikes
  • Light for the DH class (~15.9 kg on the SLT) with adjustable geometry via the Angle Set headset
Weaknesses
  • Very progressive suspension on the 2021+ bike needs careful setup — reviewers ran forks soft to match the rear
  • Pure DH bike only: 1x7 gearing and 215mm travel make it useless for pedaling / trail / enduro use
  • The older alloy FSP4 platform (pre-2021) wallows in big compressions and is heavier
