Acid
Origin
The Acid is the bike that sits one notch above the Analog in Cube's hardtail hierarchy — same chassis philosophy, but with meaningfully better kit. The frame is Aluminum Lite with AMF tubing (Advanced Modified Forming, Cube's hydroforming method), double-butted walls, internal routing, flat-mount discs and dropper-post compatibility — every spec touch you'd expect on a €1,200+ bike. The 2024 build pairs the frame with a RockShox Judy Silver TK air fork (100 mm, remote lockout), a SRAM NX Eagle 1x12 drivetrain with 11-50t cassette, and Shimano MT200/UR300 hydraulic discs (180/160 mm). SizeSplit again — 27.5" on XS/S, 29" on M+. Stock weight is around 13.3 kg without pedals, which is genuinely competitive for an aluminum hardtail at this price. The Acid has been in the lineup since 2010 and was historically the bike Cube put forward as 'the smart upgrade from the Aim/Analog' — a real XC hardtail that costs hundreds less than equivalent Trek or Specialized aluminum builds.
The verdict
- better shifting than the direct competition (bike-test.com)
- light and lively handling well suited to wiggly, woodsy singletrack (BikeRadar)
- Reach numbers are showing as low, which can give a tight cockpit (MTBR)
