Lux World Cup CFR
Origin
The Lux is Canyon's flagship answer to the modern World Cup XC circuit, raced under the Canyon CLLCTV factory team. A key design parameter was fitting two full-sized water bottles inside the main triangle for marathon stage races like the Cape Epic, which shaped the shock placement. For 2026 Canyon fully redesigned the bike to track where XC has gone: 120 mm front / 110 mm rear travel (up from 100/100), a head angle slackened 2.5° to 66°, a ~40 mm longer wheelbase, an adjustable anti-squat Quick Chip, and a dropper post fitted as standard — all while dropping the size-M CFR frame to ~1480 g. The redesigned prototype proved itself at the 2026 Cape Epic before launch.
Specifications
- Frame
- CFR carbon (top trims) or CF carbon (mid trim CF 9); size-M CFR frame ~1480 g — among the lightest full-suspension XC frames on the World Cup circuit
- Weight
- kg
- Drivetrain
- 1×12 electronic across trims: Shimano XTR Di2 (CFR XTR), SRAM XX SL Eagle Transmission AXS w/ power meter (CFR XX), SRAM X0 Eagle AXS w/ power meter (CFR X0), Shimano XT Di2 (CFR XT); mechanical SRAM Eagle 90 Transmission on CF 9
- Brakes
- Hydraulic disc, 2-piston XC race calipers — Shimano XTR (Shimano-equipped trims) or SRAM Level (SRAM-equipped trims)
- Wheels
- 29" carbon — DT Swiss (CF 9 / CFR X0) or Shimano XTR carbon (CFR XTR Di2)
The verdict
- Exceptional climbing efficiency and acceleration — feels like it leaps forward under power, rivalling hardtails for pedalling response
- Among the lightest full-suspension XC platforms available (~1480 g frame, ~9.82 kg complete)
- High component value for the money (electronic groupsets, carbon wheels, premium suspension at competitive prices)
- 2026 redesign adds genuine descending capability (66° head angle, 120/110 mm) plus an adjustable anti-squat Quick Chip and standard dropper
- Race-proven pedigree (Cape Epic stage sweeps) and twin-bottle main-triangle capacity for marathon stages
- Predecessor generation shipped with no dropper post out of the box — a common dealbreaker that forced an aftermarket purchase (resolved on 2026 models)
- Older 68.5° head angle made the bike feel skittish and weight-forward on steep, chunky descents (BikeRadar review)
- Pure race focus means it's overkill and harsh for casual trail riders — Canyon points them to the Lux Trail or Neuron instead
- Top trims are very expensive (up to ~€8,000), and the direct-to-consumer model means no local dealer fitting or service
- Rebound dial on some suspension specs noted as awkward to access (BikeRadar)
