Izcelsme

Carrera Podium is an Italian racing marque founded in 1989 by former pro and team manager Davide Boifava as the frame workshop of the Carrera professional cycling team — one of the most iconic squads of the late 1980s and 1990s, home to Stephen Roche, Claudio Chiappucci and Marco Pantani. The name comes from Carrera Jeans, the Verona denim house that sponsored the team; the bikes and the riders famously shared the same building near Brescia, so the pros doubled as the product testers. Over its history the marque claims more than 500 wins in Europe's hardest road races and pioneered several firsts — among them an early aluminium-plus-carbon frame and one of the first custom-fit carbon frames made in Italy. The Veleno (Italian for 'poison') sits in the modern carbon range as the brand's popular do-everything race frame: light, stiff, and built by hand in Italy, offered as a frameset or a complete bike with Shimano or Campagnolo. It is a genuine boutique Italian race bike and should not be confused with the unrelated budget 'Carrera' house brand sold by Halfords in the UK.

Verdikts

+Stiprās puses
  • Genuine hand-built-in-Italy carbon race frame with real pro-team heritage (Carrera Podium).
  • Light (~920 g frame) and stiff, with race-responsive handling praised by owners as 'modern, fast'.
  • Groupset-agnostic frame — routed for both mechanical and electronic (Di2/EPS) drivetrains, so it adapts to a wide range of builds.
Vājās puses
  • Rim-brake, pre-disc-era race frame — dated versus modern disc road bikes and harder to future-proof.
  • Boutique low-volume brand: spares, warranty support and dealer coverage are thin, especially in the Baltics.
  • Premium original pricing and mixed trim history make it hard to compare like-for-like on the used market.
