Racer

Cycles Peugeot is one of the oldest names in cycling, founded in 1882 in Sochaux, France, after Armand Peugeot hand-built an early penny-farthing. The marque went on to become the most successful factory team in the history of the Tour de France, taking a record ten overall victories, the first with Louis Trousselier in 1905. Its black-and-white chequerboard livery and Reynolds 531 steel race frames — the PX-10 above all — made Peugeot a defining brand of the classic era of European road racing. The bicycle business later passed through several owners and is today licensed under Cycleurope (part of Sweden's Grimaldi Industri), relaunched in 2011 with a modern road range (R01, R02, eR02) plus the neo-retro Legend collection. There has never been a distinct Peugeot model officially called "Racer"; the term is a generic descriptor of a Peugeot road/racing bike rather than a real product line.
