Deleting your account
You can close your URBALT account at any time. This page explains how, what gets removed, and what happens to listings and conversations.
How to delete
- Open /panel/settings.
- Scroll to the Delete account section at the bottom of the page.
- Click Delete account. A confirmation modal opens.
- The modal asks you to enter your password to confirm — this prevents accidental deletion if you walk away from your laptop.
- Click Delete permanently. The action is logged out and the deletion runs.
What happens
From the modal: "This will permanently delete your account, all your listings, and conversations." In practice that means:
- Your account is soft-deleted — sign-in is blocked, your profile becomes inaccessible, your username is detached.
- Your listings are removed from public view immediately.
- Your conversations are removed from your inbox; the other party will see them as belonging to a deleted user.
- Your community posts and comments remain visible but are anonymised. We don't silently rewrite history, but your name is no longer attached.
What we keep — and why
Some data is retained for legal reasons even after deletion:
- Moderation records (warnings, bans, abuse reports) — to enforce platform rules.
- Transaction-adjacent data — basic logs of payments for paid features (Premium boost, etc.) for accounting compliance.
- Audit trail — login logs, IP hashes for fraud detection. Anonymised.
This retention is documented in the privacy policy.
Multi-domain note
URBALT runs three sister sites — urbalt.ee, urbalt.lv, urbalt.lt. Each domain has its own user record. Deleting your account on one domain does not automatically delete the others. If you want to leave all of URBALT, repeat the deletion on each domain where you registered.
If you change your mind
Deletion is final. If you want a fresh start, you can register again with the same email after deletion — but your old listings, ratings, and community history won't come back.
GDPR rights
Under EU GDPR you also have the right to request a copy of your personal data, correction of inaccuracies, or restriction of processing. Email [email protected] with the request. See privacy policy for the full list.
