Granturismo SLR

01

Origin

The Granturismo SLR launched in 2023 as the direct replacement for the much-loved Cento10 NDR ('Non Disperdere Rendimento' — 'do not waste performance'), which had been Wilier's endurance offering since 2017. The bike is the culmination of work that began in Rossano Veneto in the early 2010s on rear-end vibration damping for long-distance Italian classics like the Strade Bianche-inspired sportives. Wilier's engineers refined the original Cento10 NDR's elastomer micro-shock into the Actiflex 2.0 system, which gives the rear wheel up to 5mm of vertical compliance. The carbon layup — HUS-MOD with embedded Liquid Crystal Polymer fibres — was a Wilier-specific recipe developed to add vertical elasticity while protecting torsional rigidity, blending Italian comfort tradition with race-bike numbers.

The verdict

+Strengths
  • Outstanding rear-end comfort — Actiflex 2.0 gives genuine, noticeable compliance without a pivot/suspension penalty
  • Comfort delivered without sacrificing speed — climbs and accelerates competitively against pure race bikes
  • Agile, lively handling despite the relaxed endurance geometry
  • Premium finishing kit and wheelsets throughout the lineup; impeccable Italian design and detail
  • Stiff, efficient HUS-MOD + LCP frame keeps torsional rigidity high while adding vertical give
Weaknesses
  • Limited 32 mm tire clearance — restricts true all-road/gravel versatility, reviewers wanted more
  • No mounting points for fenders, racks or bikepacking gear
  • Very expensive — €10,300 (Dura-Ace) / £8,680 (SRAM Force), niche premium pricing
  • Stock tire choices (e.g. Vittoria Corsa Speed) lack durability on poor/rough surfaces
  • Integrated one-piece cockpit bar circumference felt too thin for some over long rides; integration limits fit adjustability
