Origin

The Razor is the entry point into the Vitus road range — an aluminium double-butted frame with a carbon fork, designed to give beginner road riders and commuters a lightweight, compliant ride without spending carbon-frame money. The disc variants added hydraulic brakes and thru-axles, while flat-bar builds (Razor Disc Flat Bar) opened the platform to riders more comfortable with mountain-bike-style controls.

The verdict

+Strengths
  • Carbon fork on double-butted alloy delivers genuine ride quality improvement over basic alloy-fork rivals
  • Mudguard mounts and 28–38mm tyre clearance make it practically all-weather capable
  • Wide range of build options (rim/disc, flat/drop bar) suits different rider types
Weaknesses
  • Claris 8-speed is functional but noticeably less refined than 105 or Ultegra when shifting under load
  • At ~9 kg complete, heavier than mid-range alloy bikes with better components
  • Tapered aluminium steerer (entry fork) is less stiff than a full carbon steerer
