TernNode
folding
01
Origin
Introduced around 2020, the Node took a different design bet from the rest of the Tern folding range: 24-inch wheels. Larger than the ubiquitous 20-inch folder, the Node trades slightly bulkier folded dimensions for a noticeably more comfortable, stable ride over urban rough patches — closer in feel to a standard commuter bike but still foldable for transit.

The verdict
+Strengths
- 24-inch wheels give a noticeably smoother, more stable ride than 20-inch folders on rough city roads
- Integrated fenders and rack make it genuinely all-weather commuter-ready at purchase
- OCL+ hinge delivers premium rigidity even with the stress of larger wheels
−Weaknesses
- Folded dimensions (39 x 86 x 84 cm) are larger than 20-inch folders — less convenient on crowded trains
- V-brakes underperform in wet conditions compared to hydraulic disc alternatives
- Limited gearing range (8-speed Claris) for hilly terrain
