Origin

The Luna is Stevens' entry point for women riders getting into mountain biking. The hydroformed aluminium 6061 frame uses water and oil pressure manufacturing to shape tubes into exactly the strength profile Stevens' engineers calculated — removing unnecessary material while adding wall thickness where loads concentrate. The result is a frame that's stronger at stress points without adding weight. The geometry is designed specifically for female anatomy: lowered top tube for standover height, shorter top tube for reach, and size-specific wheel choices so small riders get a properly proportioned bike.

The verdict

+Strengths
  • Women's-specific geometry with lowered top tube improves standover safety for new riders
  • Hydraulic disc brakes at entry-level pricing is a genuine rider benefit
  • Size-specific wheel sizing ensures handling proportionality
Weaknesses
  • 14.3–14.7 kg is relatively heavy — limits performance for more experienced riders
  • SR Suntour XCM HLO coil fork with lockout is entry-level — performance gap vs air forks is noticeable
  • 3×9 drivetrain is legacy; 1×11 or 1×12 drivetrains have become the mountain bike standard
