Origin

The Speedster Gravel sub-family was introduced by Scott around 2015 as an extension of the Speedster endurance road line, sharing the same D.Butted 6061 alloy platform but adapted for mixed-surface riding with 45mm tyre clearance and gravel-specific drivetrain options. By the 2022 generation refresh, the frame gained full internal cable routing, the HMF carbon eccentric-steerer fork, fender-kit-ready mounts, and a full 7-size range. It positions between the Speedster road bike (32mm clearance) and the Addict Gravel (carbon, performance-oriented).

The verdict

+Strengths
  • 45mm tyre clearance transforms the ride on rough roads, gravel, and loaded commuting — a standout feature for an alloy endurance platform
  • HMF carbon fork on all builds provides front-end compliance missing from all-alloy competitors; shared fork hardware with premium road family is exceptional value
  • Top-end Speedster Gravel 10 with SRAM RIVAL XPLR AXS wireless electronic groupset is unusually well-specced for an alloy gravel bike; Gravel 20 with GRX hydraulic disc is also strong value
Weaknesses
  • 10.1-11.1 kg (Gravel 10-30) is heavy by modern gravel standards; carbon gravel alternatives at similar prices weigh 1.5-2 kg less
  • Comfort/endurance geometry limits appeal to riders who want fast gravel racing positions or aggressive trail riding
  • No dropper post compatibility on base builds; rigid alloy seatpost on an alloy frame can feel harsh on extended rough gravel sections
