ROSE BikesX-Lite / XLITE Series
road2800–8199 EUR
01
Origin
2008. The X-Lite was ROSE's flagship road race platform — a lightweight carbon road bike sold direct at prices that shamed retail competitors. It competed directly with Canyon Ultimate, Cannondale SuperSix Evo Hi-Mod, and similar lightweight race machines, consistently offering better spec-per-euro through direct sales.

The verdict
+Strengths
- BikeRadar 2019 (X-Lite Four): 'Lightest frame and fork combo around at this price.' 760g frame + 325g fork.
- RC SIXTY carbon wheels (60mm, 1,620g, Sapim CX-Ray) standard on XLITE 06 — exceptional value vs retail carbon wheels
- Direct sales: SRAM Red eTap AXS + RC SIXTY + integrated cockpit at €8,199 — significantly undercuts retail equivalents
- Race geometry mirrors Canyon Ultimate / Cannondale SuperSix Evo — validated benchmark
- GRAN FONDO: 'Easy to put together — just turn handlebar, install wheels, insert seatpost, screw pedals.' Practical delivery.
- One-piece Race Carbon cockpit easy to remove without disconnecting brake lines — practical for travel
- road.cc: 'Incredibly quick and entertaining bike — bags of speed packed away within understated frame'
- BikeRadar: 'Comfortable enough to ride for hours, quick enough to exploit for fun'
- Bikerumor: 'Sub-€3,000 for a fully integrated, aero, light carbon road race bike' (XLITE 04) — extraordinary entry price
−Weaknesses
- road.cc: 'Paint is very thin — fragile. Coffee stop tumble almost exposed carbon layer.' Weight saving tradeoff.
- 30mm tyre clearance — less than Reveal (32mm) or most endurance bikes
- Press-fit BB only — no threaded option for all-weather durability
- XLITE 04: standard two-piece cockpit (not integrated) — loses aerodynamic coherence vs 06
- road.cc: 'Front end can lack comfort on really rough roads.' Stiff ride not masked by kit choices.
- RC SIXTY wheels 21mm internal width — narrower than modern preference for 25mm+
- Direct-to-consumer only — no test rides, no local fitting service
