Origin

The Kanzo Fast launched in 2019 as Ridley's answer to aero gravel racing — merging the brand's road-bike aerodynamic obsession with gravel geometry. The headline innovation was the "1×2×11" drivetrain: a single front chainring paired with Classified's wireless internal 2-speed hub, delivering the range of a double without a front derailleur cluttering the cockpit.

The verdict

+Strengths
  • Classified hub delivers 22-gear range with a clean single-chainring front end — no front derailleur fumbling
  • Aero profiling gives real speed advantage on fast gravel races and mixed-surface sportives
  • Predictable handling from fixed 42.5cm chainstay and considered geometry across sizes
Weaknesses
  • Classified hub system adds cost and a proprietary wheel that can be hard to replace or service remotely
  • Integrated cockpit limits handlebar customisation for riders with non-standard fit requirements
  • At ~8.9kg, heavier than pure climber-oriented gravel bikes
