Grevil
Origin
Pinarello, founded by Giovanni Pinarello in Treviso, Italy in 1953, built its reputation on Tour de France-winning road bikes (Indurain, Wiggins, Froome). The Grevil arrived in 2019 as the brand's first dedicated gravel bike, and rather than start from scratch Pinarello ported its race DNA across: the asymmetric 'Think Asymmetric' downtube, the wave-shaped Onda fork, and geometry that leans road-fast rather than adventure-relaxed. It launched in two grades from day one -- the flagship Grevil+ in Toray T1100 carbon and the standard Grevil in T700 -- with clearance for 700x42mm or 650bx2.1in tyres. In 2022 Pinarello redesigned it into the Grevil F: a claimed 8 percent stiffer and 4 percent more aero frame with cleaner internal routing, wider 50mm tyre clearance and a graded lineup (F1 through F9) spanning T600 to T900 carbon. The Grevil sits below the newer, lighter, aero-focused Dogma GR in Pinarello's gravel range.
Specifications
- Frame
- Carbon fiber (Toray). Grevil+ = T1100 1K; Grevil = T700 UD. Grevil F: F9/F7 = T900 UD, F5/F3 = T700 UD, F1 = T600. Think Asymmetric downtube offsets drivetrain/brake loads.
- Weight
- kg
- Drivetrain
- 1x and 2x compatible. Original: Shimano Ultegra RX (clutched), Campagnolo Ekar 13sp. Grevil F builds: Shimano GRX 610/820/Di2, SRAM Rival/Force/RED XPLR AXS 13sp, Campagnolo Ekar.
- Brakes
- Flat-mount hydraulic disc, front+rear. Groupset-matched (Shimano GRX / SRAM / Campagnolo Ekar). Ekar brakes praised as class-leading on gravel.
- Wheels
- 700c or 650b compatible, 12mm thru-axles (100x12 front / 142x12 rear). Stock wheels vary by build (e.g. Fulcrum Rapid Red / Racing DB).
The verdict
- Balanced, confident handling -- stable at speed without feeling sluggish
- Distinctive Italian looks and genuine road-race pedigree
- Grevil F offers huge (50mm) tyre clearance and clean internal routing
- Relatively heavy for its price and category
- Firm ride -- race-focused, not a comfy all-day cruiser (noted on original Grevil)
- Stock wheels often underwhelm relative to the frameset; premium price for the badge
