Origin

Pegasus launched the Solero e-bike line around 2010, among the earliest mainstream e-city bikes from a German ZEG brand. Over successive EVO generations the frame moved to an aerodynamic monocoque-style casting, the drivetrain stepped up to Bosch mid-drive, and the wheel size grew to 29 inches for better obstacle roll-over. By the EVO 8/9/10 era (2023–2024) the Solero had matured into a polished, well-specified urban commuter at a mid-range price point.

The verdict

+Strengths
  • Bosch Active Line Plus is smooth, quiet, and reliable — ideal for everyday urban commuting without overtly sporty character
  • 500 Wh PowerTube integration keeps the frame lines clean and the battery secure against theft
  • 29-inch wheels roll over city obstacles confidently; hydraulic disc brakes handle all weather conditions
Weaknesses
  • Active Line Plus (50 Nm) is less powerful than Performance Line CX (85 Nm) — may feel underpowered for very hilly routes with heavy loads
  • Range of ~50–80 km suits city commutes but falls short for longer touring rides
  • 29-inch wheels make low-step variants slightly taller — less accessible for very short riders
