32 Factory
Origin
The Fox 32 mm chassis traces back to early-2000s F-Series XC forks built by Fox Factory in California; the premium 'Factory' tier positioning formalised around 2013 with Kashima Coat stanchions. The name encodes the design: '32' is the stanchion diameter in millimetres, 'Factory' is Fox's highest performance tier, and 'Step-Cast' refers to the narrow stepped lower-leg profile that clears spokes and rotor while saving weight. It is Fox's race-spec XC/marathon fork, sitting against the RockShox SID SL and DT Swiss F232.

The verdict
- Lightest aftermarket MTB fork Fox has ever made (under 1,300g claimed, ~1,308g actual with cut steerer)
- 40% stiffer than previous 32 SC thanks to reverse arch redesign
- GRIP SL damper: supple small-bump sensitivity with effective large-hit control
- FLOAT EVOL air spring: progressive ramp-up, excellent use of full travel
- Kashima Coat reduces friction and extends stanchion life
- Kabolt SL axle: lighter and easier to use than bolt-through designs
- Set-and-forget platform — consistent performance without constant tuning
- World Cup pedigree: standard equipment for Fox-sponsored XC teams
- 100mm only — not compatible with modern down-country trend toward 110-120mm; riders wanting more travel need 34 SC
- 29" only (2025 gen) — no 27.5" option
- No oversized Torque Cap dropouts (RockShox standard) — limits torsional connection with compatible hubs
- Rebound adjustment via internal hex (2.5mm) — less convenient than external dial
- Remote lever sold separately on push-lock variants — adds cost
- Expensive (~$900-1,050 USD aftermarket)
- Market trend toward 110-120mm XC reduces platform's appeal on modern full-suspension race bikes
