Oiz
Origin
Orbea made a bold move in 2023 by completely eliminating the 100mm travel option. Recognizing that modern World Cup XC courses are incredibly technical, they engineered the OMX frame to weigh only 1750g even with 120mm of travel, providing trail-bike capability with marathon-bike weight. Gen 4 (2019-2022): Introduced the modern flex-stay design, offered in 100mm (XC) and 120mm (TR) versions. Gen 5 (2023-present): Consolidated strictly to 120mm travel front and rear. Frame weight reduced to 1750g. Improved kinematics and geometry.

The verdict
- Class-leading climbing — ultra-snappy pedalling feel, often the fastest uphill in its test group while also being the lightest (~10 kg)
- Most travel in the XC-race class (120/120 mm) yet stays sub-10 kg, giving genuine descending confidence (downcountry capability without the weight)
- Modern, descent-friendly geometry: 67° head angle, 76.5° seat angle, dropper specced across the range
- Extreme spec/paint customisation via Orbea MyO program — buyer picks groupset, wheels, suspension and colours
- Exceptionally clean integrated cable routing (i-Line / SIC) hides shock-lockout and brake lines
- Integrated SIC headset routing makes stem swaps and headset-bearing service a slow, awkward shop job — not home-mechanic friendly
- Rear end tends to skip/lose traction under hard braking as the suspension firms up
- Mostly 2-piston brakes with 160 mm rotors limit late, hard braking versus 4-piston trail setups
- Noticeable chain slap from the chainstay protector on rough terrain
- Premium pricing and narrow-ish 760 mm stock bars frustrate riders who want to push it harder on descents
