Origin
Mondraker launched the Grommy in 2021 as what the brand describes as the world's first electric balance bike — an MTB-pedigree toddler balance bike with a 250 W throttle-controlled motor. The Grommy is designed to let young children experience bike riding well before they can pedal, with speed modes that grow with the child. Motor off = traditional balance bike; motor on = electric-assisted first-trail experience.

The verdict
+Strengths
- Three speed modes let the bike grow with the child as confidence develops
- Swappable 80 Wh battery enables a full day of riding without waiting for a recharge
- Hydraulic disc brakes provide proportional stopping power even at the Advanced mode speeds
−Weaknesses
- No pedals — the Grommy is only a balance-phase bike, not a progression to a pedal bike
- 7.5-8.5 kg is heavy for a child's balance bike compared to lightweight acoustic alternatives
- Premium pricing (~€749+) is a significant investment for a single developmental phase
