Origin

The Speedway 5 is Minimotors' performance-commuter, sitting between the lightweight Speedway Mini and the heavy Dualtron lineup that the same company makes. Released around 2022, the dual-motor version pairs two 800W BLDC hub motors with a 60V 23.4Ah (1404Wh) battery, 10-inch tubeless pneumatic tires, and full dual suspension. Mechanical disc brakes front and rear are backed by regenerative electric braking. At roughly 30-32 kg it is at the upper edge of 'still occasionally carryable,' and with an unlocked top speed in the 55-64 km/h range it lands squarely in performance territory. Sold across the EU through Minimotors/Dualtron distributors, it became a common upgrade for riders graduating from Xiaomi and Ninebot-class scooters.

The verdict

+Strengths
  • Powerful dual 800W motors with strong acceleration and hill-climbing for the class
  • Large 1404Wh battery giving 50-75 km real-world range
  • Full front + rear suspension for a comfortable ride on rough Baltic city surfaces
  • Solid build quality and effective dual mechanical disc + regenerative braking
  • Rich lighting package (headlights, brake light, turn signals, ambient strips)
Weaknesses
  • Heavy at ~30-32 kg — genuinely hard to carry up stairs or onto transit
  • No published IP water-resistance rating, so wet-weather use is risky
  • Accelerated tire and brake-pad wear reported by long-term riders
  • Motors can get noisy under strain/high load
  • Higher price point and built to be unlocked beyond the EU 25 km/h legal limit

Who it’s for

Performance-curious commuter 70–100 kg upgrading from a Xiaomi/Ninebot, willing to trade portability for real range and suspension. Mixed-terrain rider on cobbles, gravel paths, and tram-track-heavy Baltic city centres.
