Origin

The Devote is the women's-specific flagship in Liv's gravel range — and because Liv is the only major bike brand built entirely around women-specific design, this isn't a 'shrink-it-and-pink-it' version of a unisex bike, it's engineered ground-up to Liv's 3F (Fit, Form, Function) philosophy using data from female-specific anthropometric research. The current generation, refreshed for 2024, introduced a longer reach, a slacker head angle, and a flip-chip in the rear dropouts that lets the rider tune between two geometry positions for racier or more stable handling. The Devote runs on 700c wheels with up to 45mm tire clearance and is built around storage and bikepacking integration: fork-leg eyelets, top-tube bento mount, and frame bag points. The range spans an alloy Devote 1 at €1,550 to the SRAM Force AXS-equipped carbon Devote Advanced Pro at €6,499, with the carbon frames sharing the same molds as Giant's Revolt — but with Liv-specific contact points (saddle, bar width, crank length) tuned for shorter-statured riders.

The verdict

+Strengths
  • Genuine ground-up women-specific 3F geometry (not a 'shrink-it-and-pink-it' rebadge) — Liv is the only major brand built entirely around female-specific design
  • Exceptional comfort: D-Fuse leaf-spring seatpost and handlebar plus carbon fork tame gravel vibration; BikeRadar called the Liv Grit saddle 'one of the comfiest perches I've ridden'
  • Flip-chip dropout tunes wheelbase and tyre clearance (45mm racy / 53mm stable) — rare versatility at this price
  • Strong value: carbon fork standard even on the alloy Devote 1, shared engineering with the proven Giant Revolt
  • Capable on mixed terrain yet still quick on road — reviewers note competitive road speed despite 45c treaded tyres
Weaknesses
  • Stock handlebar tape feels rough on bare palms after a few miles (BikeRadar) — many riders re-wrap
  • No published weight from Liv, and alloy frame + 2x10 CUES build is on the heavier side of the gravel segment
  • Cockpit gets crowded once lights/GPS/bags are mounted
  • Alloy Devote uses Shimano CUES (a value group) rather than dedicated GRX — shifting is fine but less refined than the carbon models
  • Women-specific sizing tops out at L, so taller riders are not catered for
