Origin

Kugoo (retail-branded Kugoo Kirin, and since ~2022 rebranded KuKirin) is a Chinese electric-mobility maker under Shenzhen-based ownership that rose to prominence in Europe on the back of the direct-from-China e-scooter boom around 2019-2021. Its scooters ship from EU warehouses (Poland, Czechia) through the kugoo.eu / kukirin storefronts and a long tail of grey-market resellers, undercutting Xiaomi and Ninebot on price. The M2 line is Kugoo's cheapest 'proper' commuter platform — a lightweight folding 350W scooter built to hit an aggressive price point. The M2+ (also written M2 Plus) is not a separate engineering project but the same M2 chassis fitted with an add-on adjustable saddle, aimed at riders who want to sit for longer, gentler city rides. Because it is sold by many different sellers, the exact spec (tire, brake, top speed) drifts between listings, which is the single biggest thing to watch when buying one.

The verdict

+Strengths
  • Very cheap and light (~15-19 kg) — easy to carry and fold, low barrier to entry
  • Dual suspension plus the optional seat make short city rides comfortable for a budget scooter
  • Simple, well-known platform with cheap, widely-available spare parts (tires, brakes, controllers)
Weaknesses
  • Small 36V 7.5-8Ah battery means real-world range is short (~18-25 km), and it fades with rider weight and the seat
  • Spec is inconsistent across sellers (tire type, rear brake, top-speed claims) — easy to get a worse unit than advertised, and top-speed claims of 35 km/h are optimistic
  • Grey-import build quality and thin local warranty/support in the Baltics; not built for rough roads or hills

Generations

  1. M2 / M2 Pro (stand-up)

    • The mainstream stand-up commuter spec; pneumatic tires and disc brake.
    Brakes
    rear disc
  2. M2+ (seated)

    • Same chassis plus a bolt-on saddle; several seated listings downgrade to solid tires and a drum brake, and drop max load to ~100 kg.
    Brakes
    rear drum
