Trans Hybrid

e-trekking
01

Origin

Kross introduced the Trans Hybrid as the electric evolution of its bestselling Trans trekking line, recognising that the e-bike transition was hitting the trekking segment hardest. The Trans Hybrid shares the same 6061 aluminium frame architecture and upright geometry as its non-electric sibling but integrates a Shimano Steps E6110 system, the trekking-optimised variant of the Steps family designed for smooth, natural power delivery.

The verdict

+Strengths
  • Shimano Steps E6110 delivers smooth, natural-feeling assist ideal for loaded touring
  • SC-E6100 display with Bluetooth enables precise assist customisation via smartphone
  • 630 Wh battery on the 6.0 is genuinely competitive with premium touring e-bikes costing more
Weaknesses
  • SR Suntour comfort fork lacks lockout on lower builds, penalising road efficiency
  • Shimano Acera drivetrain on the 4.0 is modest for a bike in the mid-e-trekking price range
  • Heavy total system weight (typically 24-26 kg) limits handling feel on steeper terrain
