Process Women's
Origin
The Kona Process launched in 2014 and immediately rewrote the trail-bike rulebook: long reach, slack head angle, a very short stem and short chainstays with a low bottom bracket — geometry that mainstream brands would only adopt years later. The Process 134, with 134mm of Beamer-suspension travel, became the do-everything middle child of the range: capable enough for rough descents yet efficient enough to pedal all day. For 2015-2016 Kona offered the 134 (and mid-tier 134 DL) under a 'Women's' banner — not a different frame, but the same alloy chassis specced with women's touch points and, crucially, extended down to an XS size for shorter riders. Kona was ahead of the curve here too: rather than pinking-and-shrinking a token model, it treated the women's builds as real Processes and soon folded the concept into a fully inclusive, size-driven unisex lineup where the 'Women's' label quietly disappeared.

The verdict
- Descends far above its price — modern long/slack geometry makes it stable and confidence-inspiring on rough, steep terrain.
- Genuine XS size and full XS-XL range make it one of the few capable trail bikes that fits shorter riders properly.
- Reliable, serviceable parts spec (Shimano Deore/XT, RockShox, WTB) — cheap and easy to maintain and repair.
- Heavy and a lethargic climber — the slack-ish seat angle and alloy weight make long ascents hard work.
- The 2x10 drivetrain and short-travel dropper on the base 134 feel dated by today's standards.
- 27.5" wheels only (no 29er in this era) and no stealth dropper routing on XS frames.
