Origin

GT's Pro Series BMX lineage traces directly to founder Gary Turner's first frames in 1972, built for his son on the Southern California BMX racing circuit. The Pro Series name became synonymous with GT's factory race program through the 1980s and 1990s, appearing at amateur and professional BMX nationals across the USA and Europe. The modern Pro Series continues to honor that heritage with aluminum race frames.

The verdict

+Strengths
  • Decades of BMX racing heritage and refinement behind the geometry and component choices
  • Chrome-moly steel option offers superb durability and compliance for BMX racing impacts
  • Lightweight race setup (single speed, minimal braking) keeps the bike competitive at sanctioned events
Weaknesses
  • Highly specialized -- only useful in BMX racing or skatepark contexts
  • Very limited gearing: single-speed with small rear cog limits usefulness outside race courses
  • Race geometry (very short chainstays, high BB) feels extreme for general recreational riding
