Horizon
Origin
Fluid Free Ride (fluidfreeride.com) is a US-based electric-scooter retailer and house brand founded out of Miami in the mid-2010s, better known for importing performance machines like the Mantis and for its own value-focused line. The Horizon is the brand's answer to the mass-market Xiaomi/Ninebot commuters: instead of the usual single-suspension budget board, Fluid built a genuinely full-suspension scooter and priced it barely above a stock M365. First sold around 2019-2020, it earned a reputation as one of the cheapest e-scooters you could buy with suspension at both ends. In 2023 Fluid shipped the V2 revision, keeping the same drivetrain and geometry but reworking the parts riders complained about most: a waterproof IP66 display, a nicer thumb throttle, an improved anti-splash mudguard and a rear grab-handle that doubles as a footrest for longer legs.
Specifications
- Weight
- kg
- Brakes
- Rear enclosed drum brake + electronic regen; NO front brake
The verdict
- Full front+rear suspension at a budget price — plush, stable ride most rivals can't match
- Strong value: real 23 mph and 30-40 km range for well under premium money
- Compact, foldable and reasonably light (18-19 kg) with a useful carry/footrest handle
- Long stopping distance — single rear drum brake, no front brake
- No official IP water-resistance rating; solid rear tire loses grip when wet
- Rear suspension can bottom out; folding mechanism lacks a locking safety pin
Generations
Horizon V1 (2019-2022)
- Original: cheapest full-suspension commuter; weak braking, non-waterproof display
Horizon V2 (2023-present)
- Same drivetrain; refined display/throttle/mudguard + rear footrest handle. Braking still the weak point.
