01
Origin
The Idol has been part of De Rosa's lineup since 2012 as the house's mid-range answer to riders who want Italian carbon quality without the pro-race price tag. The 2026 generation is the most significant overhaul in its history — a new triple-weave carbon recipe shed ~300 g from the previous frameset while adding a bolder downtube and visually striking bare-carbon arc-slope top tube.

The verdict
+Strengths
- Significant 2026 weight reduction makes it competitive with pricier climbing frames
- Multi-weave carbon construction delivers a compliant yet stiff ride character
- Wide color and build options across mechanical, Di2, and AXS groupsets
−Weaknesses
- Still heavier than the Merak — sits clearly as a step below the flagship climbing model
- Less aerodynamic than the 70 — no Pininfarina wind-tunnel development at this price point
- Published tire clearance not specified on derosa.it — requires dealer confirmation
