Pathlite:ON
Origin
The Pathlite:ON is Canyon's e-trekking/e-SUV platform, designed as a do-everything electric utility bike that bridges the gap between a city commuter and a light off-road tourer. Current generation (refreshed for 2025) splits into two families: the Pathlite:ON SUV, which uses Bosch's full-power Performance Line CX motor (85 Nm) with 600-800 Wh batteries for loaded touring and weekend escapes, and the Pathlite:ONfly, which uses the lighter Bosch Performance Line SX motor (55 Nm) with a 400 Wh battery for a more natural, lower-weight ride. Both families share the MIK HD modular rack system, adjustable handlebar geometry, and Bosch ABS as an option on premium builds. Suspension fork, integrated lights, fenders, and rack come standard, so the bike is ready out of the box for daily commuting, family touring, or rough-track adventures. It positions against the Riese & Müller Charger and the Cube Touring Hybrid Pro in the European market.

The verdict
- Powerful, smooth Bosch Performance Line CX motor (85 Nm, rising to 100 Nm via 2025 software update) with excellent climbing torque and natural power delivery
- True out-of-the-box utility: integrated lights, fenders, MIK HD rack, and suspension fork come standard — ready to commute or tour day one
- Strong value for the spec — Canyon's direct-sale model undercuts comparable Riese & Müller / Cube trekking e-bikes
- Bosch Smart System with eBike Flow app, GPS anti-theft tracking, and optional Bosch ABS on premium trims
- Versatile across paved paths, gravel, fire roads and loaded family touring; comfortable upright ride
- Heavy — 23.5 kg entry up to 28.4 kg flagship; a real handful to lift, carry up stairs or manage without motor assist
- Entry coil-sprung fork (SR Suntour XCM34) lacks high-speed bump compliance and adjustability versus air forks
- Hardtail with upright utility geometry — not suited to technical singletrack or sporty/fast group riding
- Premium trims get expensive (flagship 9 LTD SUV ~£5,249), eroding the value advantage at the top of the range
- Heavy reliance on the smartphone/eBike Flow app to unlock Smart System features; on the AXS flagship the derailleur uses its own separate battery
