Habit Neo
Origin
Cannondale launched the Habit Neo in 2020 as the lighter, more playful sibling to the longer-travel Moterra eMTB — essentially their well-loved Habit trail bike with a Bosch motor added. The pitch was literal: 'we took our most fun trail bike and put a motor in it,' keeping the carbon frame and trail-oriented 130/140 mm travel rather than chasing maximum capability. It carries over Cannondale's Proportional Response philosophy, tuning suspension kinematics per frame size.

The verdict
- Agile, playful trail handling — feels lighter than its ~23.7 kg thanks to BallisTec carbon and low/central motor+battery placement
- Bosch Performance Line CX delivers smooth, natural 85 Nm assist with four modes (Eco/Tour/eMTB/Turbo)
- Strong real-world range — ~70 km with 1500 m climbing on a single 625 Wh charge in testing
- Powerful 4-piston Magura front brake with 220 mm rotor — serious stopping power for a heavy eMTB
- Proportional Response: size-specific suspension kinematics for consistent feel across frame sizes
- RockShox 35 Gold fork damping is basic — testers wanted more sensitivity/control
- 2-piston rear brake feels underpowered next to the 4-piston front in demanding situations
- 130/140 mm travel and trail-casing tires limit it on very aggressive/technical descents
- Mid-tier SLX / mixed Eagle drivetrain on a premium-priced bike — riders expect higher spec
- Heavy (~23.7 kg) and full-sus eMTB is a niche segment with limited resale demand in the Baltics
