Scalpel (XC)

Origin

The Scalpel is Cannondale's XC race weapon, with a lineage dating back decades. The 2021 redesign was a landmark: FlexPivot replaced the lower suspension bearing with precisely engineered carbon flex zones — the frame literally bends where a Horst link would pivot. The result is a true four-bar suspension feel at near-hardtail weight. A full 2024 update stretched the chainstays per size and slackened the head angle to 66.6° — acknowledging that XC racing has moved to gnarlier terrain, while keeping the frame under 2 kg with shock.
